GSP vs Anderson ‘spider’ Silva

That’s the match to make. In July of 2017, when UFC have their biggest event, this is fight that sells. This fight is like the Mayweather and Pacquiao fight. This fight should have happened years ago, when both fighters were at their prime. But that’s not how it works in the fight game. In the fight game, the fight fans gotta wait. But is the wait worth after so many years? Absolutely a Daniel Bryan YES! But Mayweather vs Pacquiao did not live up to the hype and the controversy surrounding the shoulder injury later left a bad taste. Maybe GSP takes Silva down all the five rounds and bore the shit outa fans and we see an absolutely boring fight. Or maybe not. We may see the best of pure mixed martial arts from two of the very very best to ever do it. Yes. NOW THAT IS EXCITING. And that is why this match has to happen. Better later than never.

Yes there’s Nick Diaz and the winner of Woodley/ Thomson fight. But they can wait. Yes there’s time for all that to happen later. Oh! And Thomson says he won’t fight GSP if he wins. Hmm. So maybe the best fight to make is Silva vs GSP. And Anderson winning his previous fight, though controversy surrounding it, helps. The build up to this can be zoomed by UFC and definitely can be tagged as a ‘Once in a lifetime’. Wow just thinking of fight gives me goosebumps. Make it happen UFC. It’s long time coming.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.

UFC PPV: The returning great George ‘Rush’  St-Pierre vs the greatest of all time Anderson ‘spider’ Silva.
WOW.

The Flaw of UFC 208

In recent memory UFC 208 has been one of the most unanticipated shows. When tickets get sold in minutes these days, the tickets for UFC 208 are still available. (Grab em’ if you still want one).

Let me put down the main PPV card below:

  • Holy Holm vs Germaine de Randamine
  • Anderson Silva vs Derek Brunson
  • Ronaldo Souza vs Tim Boetsch
  • Glover Teixeira vs Jared Cannonier
  • Dustin Poirier vs Jim Miller

Okay, so what feels so wrong about this card?

My opinion is that all the fights are one fighter centred. There are no two star fighters fighting each other. (like Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor). The main fight is the first fight in the women featherweight division in the UFC and at stake is the featherweight belt. But the featherweight division in the past few young years of the division was synonymous with one women Cristaine Justino, better known as Cyborg. Cyborg wanted a few more months to recover from her severe weight cut to a 140 pounds in her previous fight. But UFC had to get going with a PPV card, after missing one in January 2017. Without Cyborg fighting this fight seems like just another interim title fight. And the fact that Holy Holm is coming of two loses is another reason why  many do not accept with her getting an immediate title shot. Germaine is no superstar by any means and the Iron Lady has a chance to shine on Saturday night. She could, by defeating Holly, retire her as well.

The co-main event does not have any real story to it. Again the fight is sold only cos of Anderson and him being the most dominant champion in the past. Anderson Silva does not have a solid victory under his name is years and Derek Brunson is coming off a knockout loss to Robert Whittaker. Similarly, Derek winning could well close the coffin on Anderson Silvas’s long celebrated career.

The same is with the other two fights, where Jacare Souza and Glover are the relevant names. They have very less to gain in their wins but a lot to loose if they fail to get the W.

The card is an opportunity for the unknowns to get relevant. Its an opportunity for Germaine de Randamine, Derek Brunson, Tim Boetsch and Jared Cannonier to etch their names and to shine a little more brighter. And if someone can finish the night in style against a relevant name, their stakes rise, the money rises and the big fights come along. The card is also an opportunity for Dustin Poirier to get back to winning ways  and show his class again.

Watch this fight card to witness the unknowns rise to occasion or the old dogs moving further along in their already celebrated careers.

PS: we all like to see an underdog win. What if, just what if, Germaine de Randamine, Derek Brunson, Tim Boetsch and Jared Cannonier all manage to pull off the victories. It would be one of the greatest cards in history.

Let us all witness UFC 208.

Junior dos Santos vs Stipe Miocic 2

The rematch, this time for the heavyweight championship, is set between Dos Santos and Stipe Miocic for UFC 211.

Considering how close the first match was, this one is expected to be bonkers. The clear deviation from the first meeting is that this time Miocic is a clear favourite after four straight KO’s. Miocic’s confidence will obviously be looming large since he became champ and earning  victories back to back to back to back.

Dos Santos is coming of a long layoff. His chin has deteriorated in the recent past after hard fought battles in the past with Cain Velasquez and Miocic. It was clearly evident in his loss against previous title challenger Alistair Overeem. But he had make up with a technical win against Ben Rothwell. Dos Santos has spoken of going back to his strength, which is boxing and  maintaining range. Considering the way Miocic and Junior fight, there is very low chance of this fight going to the ground.

Further in the heavyweight division, Cain is expected to face the possible next  big thing in heavyweight division Francis Ngannou. If this happens, the winner will undoubtedly be receiving the next title shot (fingers crossed that Cain stays healthy for once, Pls Cain stay strong). And also if this fight happens it must main event or be a co-main of a big card.

The kickman Fabricio Werdum will face Ben Rothwell at UFC 211, the same card where the championship fight takes place. I clearly see Werdum winning this but I do not expect him to get the next title shot considering his past antics and relationship with Dana White, president of UFC.

Also there is Derrick Lewis vs Travis ‘hapa’ Brown main eventing the fight night 105 and also the return Mark Hunt against Alistair Overeem. Also for some strange reason am also excited for the return of Todd Duffee (hmm Never back down emo shiz).

GOOD LORD. Some exciting times ahead for the heavyweights in the UFC. The scene is beautiful and lets pray that everyone stays bloody healthy.

4 REASONS WHY I FREAKING LOVE MMA

Mixed martial arts, predominantly associated with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), is growing at a rapid pace. The company was bought for a mind blowing, candy ass whooping 4.2 billion US dollars recently,  wooo. That’s freaking awesome considering the fact that the UFC was bought for just 2 million US dollars by the Fertitta brothers in 2001.

Okay, let me stop, UFC alone is not MMA. MMA in itself is an art and UFC has the best artists who portray the art. UFC is like the super bowl, the mecca of mixed martial arts.

BUT JUST WHY? WHY DO TWO PEOPLE TRYING TO TAKE EACH OTHERS HEAD OFF CONSUME ME SOO GODAMNNN MUCH??

Let me at the very beginning state that the Natural Born Killer Carlos Condit is my favourite fighter. Initially, when I started watching his fights I wondered as to why such a handsome looking man would want to get his face busted open instead of trying to go model for some fashion agency.  As I started reading on net I understood the sport of mixed martial arts, its origins, the various styles, the larger-than-life characters  etc etcc etc

AND THEN I WAS HOOKED to the UFC and later on to Bellator, to a lesser extent since majority are exports of UFC. (Lets see where James The Strabanimal Gallagher goes from the hype) I am not saying that I understand all styles and such but the spectacle of MMA is mesmerizing.

4 REASONS WHY I FREAKING LOVE MMA

  1. It’s not the fight, fight is epic, not always, but yes fights are good. But what’s better are the drama during the weigh-ins. The build up. The trash talk. The confidence coming of 3 loses and saying that ‘I will take his head off’. The shock of getting knocked clean being a 5 to 1 favourite. That’s what is EPIC. The build-up to the fight is what gets hooked in the mind. The one who just watches fights, the casual fan ends up watching just Conor The Notorious/Mystic Mac McGregor and one who is hard-core fans wait for epic build ups like Derrick The Black Beast Lewis vs Travis ‘Hapa Ronda Rouseys boyfriend’ Browne.

  2. The emotions in the sport is unprecedented. From seeing the cockiest mofo Conor crying after winning, to Benson Henderson proposing his fiancée in the cage, to Michael Bisping finalyyyyy^10000 winning the UFC belt, to Michael Venom Page throwing a Poke ball, to super-hero-kicker Fabricio Werdum, to head movement head movement head movement no-no-no, the emotions in the sport is unprecedented, unlike any other sport on planet earth. The fighters experience the highest of the highs and lowest of the lows and we as hard-core audiences experience the same along with our favourite fighters.

  3. Dana White, president of UFC, is a character in his own ways. Those cursing; them verbals with ex UFC stars; Dana White Vs Ariel Helwani. Dana is a character who is as mesmerizing and important to them pre fight build ups.

  4. The time of the matches are a bonus with a maximum of 15 minutes or 25 minutes for a championship fights. The fights could end in a blinker or could drag for 25 longggggg minutes like that of Mr Daniel Cormiers, Sorry Daniel, and Do NOT BOX with RUMBLE JOHNSON, please. Saying so the anticipation is always there and there ain’t no better thriller script.

OH yeah baby, this is my first blog post and I will writing on Mma, hmm UFC, cos its amazing.

ALl that I post and write is solely my opinion and understanding and I do not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings or teach anyone MMA.
